Shocking! 80% of Indians Still Choose Homeownership in 2025

Date:

A recent study by Knight Frank India reveals that 80% of Indians prioritize owning a home. Cities like Chennai (86%), Mumbai Metropolitan Region (85%), and Ahmedabad (83%) show the highest enthusiasm for homeownership. This trend is especially strong among millennials and individuals earning over ₹50 lakh annually, driven by increased financial stability and cultural values.

In contrast, areas like Delhi-NCR (74%) and Bengaluru (73%) have slightly lower homeownership interest, possibly due to higher property prices and a preference for renting among young professionals. Overall, the desire to own a home remains a significant goal for many across India.
