ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has introduced two new heavy steel plate brands, STRUCTROMAX and WELDSTAR, aimed at supporting India’s growing infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, energy, transportation and heavy engineering sectors.
Developed at the company’s plate mill facility in Hazira, Gujarat, the products combine advanced rolling and heat-treatment technologies with stringent metallurgical and quality controls. STRUCTROMAX is produced using Thermo-Mechanical Controlled Processing (TMCP) and is designed for demanding applications such as bridges, high-rise buildings, offshore projects, railways and wind energy. The steel is positioned around key performance requirements including weldability, toughness, load-bearing capacity, corrosion resistance and fabrication efficiency.
WELDSTAR is an ultra-high-strength steel plate range targeted at applications including cranes, mining equipment, transportation systems and offshore projects. Its higher strength is intended to help manufacturers reduce equipment weight while improving payload capacity, fuel efficiency and overall lifecycle economics.
According to AM/NS India, the launch expands the availability of advanced heavy plate solutions for engineers, fabricators and manufacturers while strengthening domestic capabilities for high-value applications.
The company also stated that its heavy plate products are Green Steel Certified with a 3-Star Rating under the Ministry of Steel’s Green Steel Taxonomy, highlighting the growing focus on sustainability alongside performance.
