Maharashtra-based Shayona Corporation has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major affordable housing project in Betawade village, Thane district, placing it in line to secure one of the region’s notable public housing contracts.
The ₹600.80 crore project covers the development of 3,084 dwelling units for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0), the Centre’s flagship scheme for providing affordable homes to urban households.
The contract follows an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model. Under it, the selected contractor will be responsible for the design, engineering, procurement and construction of the residential buildings. The scope also includes allied infrastructure, amenities and essential services, so that the housing is delivered as a fully serviced development rather than standalone structures.
In addition to the residential blocks, the Betawade development will include supporting infrastructure and community facilities. These are intended to meet the everyday needs of the families who will move in.
With more than 3,000 EWS units planned, the project is a significant addition to Maharashtra’s affordable housing pipeline. It also strengthens the push to expand housing access for low-income households in the fast-growing Thane region.
