India’s Housing Market Shows Resilience as Property Prices Remain Strong

Date:

India’s real estate market continues to demonstrate resilience, with property prices holding firm despite ongoing global economic uncertainties. According to Pirojsha Godrej, Chairperson of Godrej Properties, the sector is entering a more stable phase, supported by consistent demand and strong market fundamentals.

Speaking during the company’s Q2 FY27 earnings call, Godrej noted that the Indian property market has performed better than expected, particularly considering its sensitivity to economic sentiment. He highlighted encouraging sales performance, with sustenance sales exceeding ₹500 crore across projects in almost all the company’s operating markets.

Godrej Properties plans to strengthen its presence in five key real estate markets over the next two years: Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune and Hyderabad. The company is also considering Chennai as its next expansion destination for group housing, although immediate expansion there is not a priority.

He also pointed towards opportunities in emerging micro-markets within established cities, while Kolkata and Ahmedabad remain under consideration for future projects.

The company’s positive outlook reflects the broader strength of India’s residential property sector. With property prices remaining stable and homebuyer demand continuing across major cities, the market appears to be transitioning from rapid post-pandemic growth towards a more sustainable phase.

These developments highlight the growing confidence in India’s real estate industry despite global economic challenges.
