India’s Manufacturing Gets a Push with Rs 28,602 Crore for 12 Cities

Date:

The Union Cabinet has approved a groundbreaking initiative to establish 12 industrial cities across India under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor (AKIC) and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) projects. With a total outlay of ₹28,602 crore, this initiative is aimed at revolutionizing the country’s manufacturing sector, fostering economic growth, and creating millions of jobs.

These cities will be strategically located to optimize connectivity with key transportation networks, including highways, railways, and ports, facilitating seamless movement of goods. The project will also incorporate state-of-the-art infrastructure, logistics hubs, and sustainable practices to enhance industrial efficiency and attract domestic and international investors.

By focusing on sectors such as electronics, textiles, and engineering, the initiative is expected to bolster India’s “Make in India” campaign. Additionally, it aims to address regional disparities by promoting industrialization in underserved areas.

The government has highlighted that these cities will act as economic powerhouses, contributing significantly to India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy. The move also aligns with India’s commitment to boosting exports and integrating into global supply chains.

This ambitious project is expected to enhance India’s competitiveness, positioning it as a global manufacturing hub in the years to come.
