Bengaluru’s iconic Kempegowda Bus Station, popularly known as Majestic, is set for a remarkable transformation with a proposed redevelopment cost of ₹1,500 crore. Announced in the Karnataka state budget for 2025-26, the project aims to modernise one of the busiest transit hubs in South India and elevate it into a world-class inter-modal transport centre.
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has begun the process by appointing consultants to prepare a detailed roadmap, including design, engineering and financial planning. The vision is to upgrade the old, congested space into a seamless mobility hub integrating intra-city buses, inter-state services, metro connectivity and pedestrian-friendly pathways.
Spread across nearly 40 acres, the redevelopment plan proposes merging Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to create a unified, efficient platform for lakhs of daily commuters. The project is expected to be executed under a public-private partnership model, allowing both infrastructure improvement and commercial viability.
Commuters can look forward to modern amenities such as digital signage, improved surveillance, smart traffic management, spacious waiting lounges, retail zones, food courts and enhanced safety measures. The makeover aims to reduce traffic chaos, improve passenger movement and bring a contemporary architectural identity to the area.
With Bengaluru’s growing mobility challenges and increasing passenger load, the revamp of Majestic is being viewed as a transformative step towards enhancing urban connectivity and strengthening the city’s transportation backbone. Once completed, the upgraded Kempegowda Bus Station will stand as a symbol of Bengaluru’s ambition to offer global-standard public infrastructure.
