Godrej Properties and Xynteo Launch Low-Carbon Construction Initiative

Date:

Godrej Properties and Xynteo have launched Habitat Matters, a CSR initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of low-carbon construction materials across India’s rapidly expanding built environment.

The initiative will identify, test and validate promising material innovations on active construction sites, helping bridge the gap between laboratory-tested solutions and real-world deployment. Over the next five years, Godrej Properties plans to build a body of on-ground evidence that could support wider adoption across the construction industry.

The programme will focus on key high-impact material categories, including cement, concrete, steel, blocks and glass, along with bio-based alternatives and other solutions that can reduce embodied carbon.

India’s construction sector is expected to expand significantly in the coming decades, making today’s material choices increasingly important from a sustainability perspective. Habitat Matters aims to provide innovators with access to live construction projects, technical evaluation and commercialisation support.

The programme has opened applications for start-ups, research institutions, material manufacturers and technology providers with solutions at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 5 and above. Selected innovations will have the opportunity to be piloted under real construction conditions.

By connecting innovation with practical deployment, Godrej Properties and Xynteo aim to create a pathway for scalable low-carbon solutions and contribute to a more sustainable future for India’s real estate and construction ecosystem.
