Nitin Gadkari Reviews Highway Maintenance with Focus on Durability and Safety

Date:

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari chaired a high-level review meeting in New Delhi to assess highway maintenance initiatives across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Gujarat. The meeting focused on improving the durability of roads, strengthening safety standards and enhancing the overall experience of commuters travelling on key National Highway corridors.

The review reflects the government’s growing emphasis on building infrastructure that is not only extensive but also sustainable and capable of delivering long-term performance. Maintaining highways to high standards is essential for ensuring smoother connectivity, reducing travel-related risks and supporting economic activity across regions.

According to Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra, India’s infrastructure development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is increasingly focused on long-term sustainability, the adoption of advanced technologies and stronger monitoring mechanisms. The approach highlights the importance of quality maintenance alongside the expansion of road networks.

As India continues to develop major transport corridors, greater attention to road durability and safety can help create infrastructure that serves commuters more efficiently over time. The review meeting underlines the need for robust maintenance practices and effective monitoring to ensure that National Highways remain safe, reliable and sustainable.
