Gadkari Reviews Rs 35,000 Crore NHAI Projects with Delhi Leaders

Date:

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari met with Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to review progress on National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) projects in the national capital. NHAI is currently executing projects worth ₹35,000 crore in Delhi, including a 7-kilometre underground tunnel stretching from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Road and an elevated road from INA to Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Chief Minister Gupta highlighted that, under the “double-engine” BJP government, infrastructure development has accelerated. She noted that NHAI has taken over construction of drainage systems alongside its roads to avoid coordination issues between multiple agencies, with the Public Works Department providing support.

Additionally, the NHAI has approved road overbridge (RoB) and road underbridge (RuB) projects worth ₹150 crore for Delhi. Gupta expressed gratitude to the Centre for enabling projects totalling ₹1.25 lakh crore in the city, underscoring the government’s focus on streamlining transport infrastructure.
