Japanese agrochemical manufacturer Nissan Chemical will establish a dedicated manufacturing facility for Ryzonic, its next-generation rice herbicide, at Saykha in Gujarat. The project is expected to strengthen India’s agrochemical manufacturing capabilities and expand the country’s role in the global crop protection supply chain.
The facility will be developed through Nissan Bharat Rasayan, a joint venture between Nissan Chemical and Bharat Rasayan established in 2020. Commercial production at the new facility is scheduled to begin in the financial year 2028.
The project will expand the joint venture’s existing manufacturing operations, which began with the completion of its first production plant in 2023. The dedicated production line for Ryzonic is designed to improve manufacturing capacity, enhance supply reliability and meet growing demand across key agricultural markets.
The investment also highlights the importance of India as a strategic manufacturing base for international agrochemical companies seeking to strengthen their regional and global supply networks.
By manufacturing Ryzonic locally, Nissan Chemical aims to improve inventory management, streamline logistics and reduce dependence on overseas production facilities. The development is expected to support a more efficient distribution network while improving the availability of crop protection products.
The new facility will further strengthen the joint venture’s manufacturing footprint in Gujarat, reinforcing the state’s position as an important destination for chemical and agrochemical investments.
