NHAI Initiates ₹127 Crore Project to Make Mysuru-Nanjangud NH-766 Safer

Date:

Mysuru: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a ₹127 crore project to transform the Mysuru-Nanjangud stretch of NH-766 into an accident-free corridor. This crucial highway connects key routes to Kerala and Tamil Nadu, serving as a gateway to major tourist destinations like Bandipur, Ooty, Chamarajanagar, and Wayanad.

Identifying eight accident-prone black spots based on the last three years’ data, NHAI has implemented a comprehensive safety plan. The project includes the installation of high mast lamps, speed breakers, humped zebra crossings, improved junctions, clear road markings, and enhanced warning signs. These measures aim to reduce accidents and prevent skidding incidents on this high-traffic corridor.

To ensure smoother and safer traffic flow, the plan involves constructing multiple overbridges and underpasses. Major developments include an overbridge at Yelachageri, an underbridge at Kalale gate, and underpasses at Hosahalli, Kadakola, Bandipalya APMC, Ganapathi Sachidananda Ashram, Kempaiahhundi, and Bannikuppe.

According to NHAI Chief Engineer Rahul Kumar Gupta, construction has commenced in phases, starting with underpasses and overbridges. Contractors are actively working on-site, and the project will be completed in multiple stages to ensure seamless implementation.
