Amara Raja Energy & Mobility has announced a major investment of ₹2,320 crore to expand its battery manufacturing operations through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies.
The investment will support the establishment of a new lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell manufacturing facility in Telangana. As part of the expansion plan, the company will also increase its battery-pack manufacturing capacity by 5 gigawatt-hours (GWh), taking the total capacity from the existing 4 GWh to 9 GWh.
According to the company, the proposed manufacturing facilities are expected to be completed within 30 months. The capital expenditure programme has been approved by the company’s Board as part of its broader strategy to strengthen its advanced energy storage business.
As of September 30, 2026, Amara Raja had invested a cumulative ₹2,100.01 crore in its advanced-cell subsidiary.
This expansion is expected to strengthen the company’s manufacturing capabilities, support rising demand for advanced energy storage solutions and boost domestic battery production. The move also highlights Amara Raja’s commitment to India’s growing battery manufacturing ecosystem and the transition towards advanced energy technologies.
