India’s mega infrastructure push gathered further momentum as the National Planning Group (NPG) reviewed seven key road projects aimed at strengthening multimodal connectivity under the PM GatiShakti framework. The review underscores the government’s focus on coordinated planning and faster execution of strategic infrastructure assets.
The projects under review span critical freight and passenger corridors, designed to improve last-mile connectivity to ports, logistics hubs, industrial clusters, and urban centres. By aligning road development with railways, ports, airports, and waterways, the initiatives seek to reduce logistics costs and enhance supply chain efficiency.
Officials said the NPG assessment focused on inter-ministerial coordination, land acquisition readiness, environmental clearances, and integration with existing and planned infrastructure networks. Emphasis was placed on eliminating bottlenecks, avoiding duplication, and ensuring time-bound execution through data-driven planning.
Industry experts note that road infrastructure remains a backbone of India’s multimodal transport strategy, especially for freight movement and regional connectivity. Under PM GatiShakti, such projects are being planned with a holistic lens—linking infrastructure creation to economic zones and employment centres.
The review reflects the Government of India’s commitment to infrastructure-led growth. With coordinated approvals and execution, the seven road projects are expected to play a crucial role in building a seamless, efficient, and future-ready multimodal connectivity network across the country.
