A groundbreaking new report titled “AI for Contractors,” released by Dodge Construction Network in partnership with CMiC, indicates that the construction industry is on the brink of a technological revolution. The study reveals that 87% of contractors believe artificial intelligence (AI) will have a meaningful impact on the sector, fundamentally reshaping operations from project management to decision-making.
According to the findings, early adopters are already seeing significant benefits. For instance, 92% of users report effectiveness in automated proposal generation, while 86% cite improvements in contract risk review. Gord Rawlins, CEO of CMiC, emphasized that these AI-enabled solutions are empowering contractors to turn raw data into actionable insights, moving them from administrative burdens to strategic roles.
Despite the optimism, the path to full adoption faces hurdles. The report highlights that data accuracy remains a primary concern for 57% of respondents, with only 26% rating their current data quality as high. Security and implementation costs also pose challenges. However, with 40% of companies already allocating budgets for AI initiatives, the industry appears poised for a tipping point. As Steve Jones of Dodge Construction Network noted, contractors are increasingly recognizing the need for a structured approach to integrate these powerful tools.
