The Telangana government has proposed a major infrastructure upgrade in Hyderabad with a double-decker elevated corridor between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar along National Highway 65. This ₹941-crore project is aimed at reducing heavy traffic congestion on one of the city’s busiest routes, which connects Hyderabad to Vijayawada and handles a massive daily commuter load.
Spanning approximately 5.5 km, the corridor is planned as a multi-level transport system to make better use of limited urban space. The design includes surface-level service roads, an elevated highway for faster vehicular movement and a provision for a metro rail line on the top deck. This integrated structure is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce travel time for commuters in eastern Hyderabad.
The need for such a project arises from increasing congestion and safety concerns on NH-65, where traffic bottlenecks and lack of proper pedestrian infrastructure have been ongoing challenges. By separating traffic layers, the project aims to streamline movement and enhance road safety.
The corridor is expected to benefit around 10–12 lakh residents living in nearby areas. Once approvals are completed and tenders are floated, construction is likely to begin. Upon completion, the project could become a benchmark for future urban infrastructure, offering a long-term solution to Hyderabad’s growing mobility demands.
