Construction begins on logistics warehouse and ALDI project at former Shropshire Star site

Date:

Construction has kicked off at Ketley Point in Telford, marking the launch of a major regeneration project to deliver a 46,000 sq ft logistics warehouse alongside an ALDI retail store on the former Shropshire Star print works site.

The redevelopment, driven by Morris Property, will include two high-quality units designed by PHD and Stoas, and will feature amenities such as car parking, EV charging stations, and landscaping. The site has remained vacant since 2022.

Morris Property’s COO James West expressed enthusiasm about the project, citing the site’s prime location—just one mile from Junction 6 of the M54 motorway—as ideal for creating well-connected commercial space serving local businesses. Contracts Manager Paul Johnson, who grew up locally, noted the emotional significance of contributing to a development that will benefit both residents and companies.

Construction is expected to roll out in phases over the next 12 months. Once completed, the combined warehouse and retail project aims to reinvigorate the defunct site and spur local economic growth.
