Google to Invest $15 Billion in India’s First AI Hub in Visakhapatnam

Google has announced plans to invest USD 15 billion between 2026 and 2030 to establish a major artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure hub in India, centered in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The proposed AI hub will integrate data centers, renewable energy generation systems, and a fiber-optic network, connecting seamlessly with Google’s existing global land and subsea cable systems. As part of the project, new subsea cables will be laid from Visakhapatnam, strengthening India’s role in the company’s worldwide digital network.

For implementation, Google will partner with AdaniConneX and Airtel, combining its global technology expertise with local infrastructure capabilities. An independent analysis estimates that the project could contribute around USD 15 billion to the U.S. GDP by 2030 through enhanced cloud and AI adoption, as well as related economic activity.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu hailed the investment as a milestone in India’s digital transformation journey, noting that it will be the country’s first gigawatt-scale data center and Google’s first AI hub in India. Google already operates data center campuses across 12 countries and maintains research and development centers in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune.
