Daimler India Unveils BharatBenz HX & TorqShift Trucks for Mining & Construction Boom

Date:

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has launched two heavy-duty BharatBenz series—HX and TorqShift—designed specifically for India’s rapidly growing mining and construction segments, now projected to expand from $16 billion to $45 billion by 2030. The rollout took place at DICV’s Oragadam plant near Chennai, after an extensive six-month validation using nearly 200 trucks at client sites nationwide.

The HX series includes the 2828C and 3532C models, packed with features such as hill‑hold assist, unitized front-axle bearings, wind deflectors, and driver-state monitoring. These trucks offer robust power (280‑320 hp) and exceptional gradeability—up to 60% on steep inclines. The TorqShift variants (2832CM, 3532CM) feature automated manual transmissions with enhanced fuel efficiency and fast turnaround—geared for demanding mining environments. A ready-mix concrete variant (2828C RMC) is also available to serve urban infrastructure needs.

DICV CEO Satyakam Arya emphasized that the mining and construction sector remains a “core pillar” in India’s development push. With many fleets nearing end-of-life, demand is rising for reliable, high-uptime assets. The BharatBenz portfolio will be supported by a nationwide network of 385 dealerships and advanced uptime centers offering predictive maintenance.
