Centre Sanctions 42 Road Projects for Karnataka; State Clears 27, 15 Await Approval

Date:

Belagavi, June 10, 2025 – Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi announced today that the Centre has sanctioned 42 road projects for Karnataka under a joint initiative with the state government. Of these, Karnataka has completed full clearances—including land acquisition and transfer to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI)—for 27 projects. Clearances for the remaining 15 are pending but are expected to be resolved shortly.

Addressing reporters at a media event in Belagavi, Jarkiholi noted that one major project, originally announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, was withdrawn. “However, the state government will now fund the project, and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone in October,” he said.

In addition to the road initiatives, the Minister provided updates on key infrastructure developments across the region. The Belagavi–Dharwad railway line is advancing with detailed project reports nearing completion. The long-awaited Belagavi Ring Road is set to decongest city traffic once construction begins later this year. Jarkiholi also announced a Rs 10 crore sports complex earmarked for youth development, plans for a new state-run hospital to improve healthcare access, and the sanctioning of 257 Anganwadi centres to bolster early childhood services.

These combined efforts underscore Karnataka’s commitment to improving connectivity, public health, and community welfare through targeted construction and development projects.
