Karnataka Government Greenlights 250-Metre Sky Deck Project at Kengeri

Date:

The Karnataka government has granted approval for the construction of a 250-metre sky deck in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout, Kengeri, Bengaluru. This landmark decision follows comprehensive site evaluations and inspections, with Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D. K. Shivakumar highlighted feasibility studies and forthcoming metro connectivity as decisive factors.

Earlier plans to develop the structure at Hemmigepura were abandoned due to aviation safety restrictions and complex land-acquisition negotiations involving the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE). The project will instead occupy a 25-acre tract owned by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), offering ample space and unobstructed views. Upon completion, the sky deck is expected to become a signature attraction, drawing tourists and residents for panoramic vistas of Bengaluru’s skyline.

Concurrently, the state government will soon invite tenders for the much-anticipated Bengaluru tunnel road project. The first phase envisages a single tunnel with strategically placed entry and exit points designed to bypass sensitive zones such as Vidhana Soudha, alleviating surface traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, construction continues on a 114-kilometre elevated corridor aimed at enhancing access to Kempegowda International Airport. Together, these urban infrastructure initiatives underline Karnataka’s broader strategy to improve connectivity, decongest traffic arteries, and reinforce Bengaluru’s position as a forward-looking metropolitan hub.
