Arunachal Pradesh Boosts Renewable Energy with 570.75 MW Small Hydropower Projects

Arunachal Pradesh has allocated a total capacity of 570.75 MW through 35 operational small hydropower projects, attracting an investment of approximately ₹7,000 crore. These projects are expected to create employment opportunities for around 7,500 local residents, supporting both economic growth and sustainable energy development in the region.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein chaired a review meeting with developers, emphasizing the state’s commitment to the “Atmanirbhar Arunachal” initiative and India’s net-zero emissions goal. He assured government support and urged developers to ensure timely project completion.

Commissioner Sonam Chombay noted that once commissioned, the projects will generate ₹58.25 crore annually in free power revenue for the state, enhancing its financial sustainability. During the event, the Deputy Chief Minister felicitated Devi Energies Andhra Pradesh for the successful completion of the 24 MW Dikshi Hydropower Project in West Kameng and Raajratna Energy Holdings for the 7.5 MW Khangtang Hydropower Project in Tawang.

With these initiatives, Arunachal Pradesh continues to strengthen its renewable energy sector, fostering both economic progress and environmental stewardship.
