Ikea Expands in Delhi-NCR: E-commerce Launch with Rhenus Logistics, New Warehouse, and Store Construction Underway

Date:

Swedish furniture giant Ikea is set to launch its e-commerce operations in Delhi-NCR, nearly seven years after entering the Indian market. The company has partnered with Germany-based Rhenus Logistics, utilizing a 1.5 lakh square-foot warehouse in Gurugram to enable doorstep delivery and 24-hour order fulfillment.

Currently, Ikea’s online services are available in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana. The Delhi-NCR launch marks a significant milestone, extending Ikea’s reach beyond its retail hubs in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai. Offline stores in Gurugram and Noida are under construction, with the Gurugram store expected to be the first to open. Spanning 4 lakh square feet, it will also house a 1,000-seater restaurant offering Indian and Swedish delicacies.

India’s furniture industry is rapidly growing, with Delhi-NCR emerging as a key demand center. The collaboration with Rhenus Logistics, known for its supply chain expertise, is expected to enhance Ikea’s efficiency in last-mile delivery and warehousing. This expansion aligns with Ikea’s Rs 10,500 crore investment plan for its first decade in India, as the company continues to strengthen its presence in major cities, including future ventures in Pune, Chennai, and Kolkata.
