Microsoft Inaugurates New AI-Focused Campus in Hyderabad, Expands Presence in Telangana

Hyderabad, India – Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu inaugurated Microsoft’s new 1.1 million sq. ft. LEED-certified campus in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, marking 25 years of Microsoft’s presence in the city. The facility will accommodate 2,500 additional employees, with plans to hire 4,800 more, further strengthening Hyderabad’s reputation as a global IT hub.

Microsoft’s Hyderabad centre, its largest R&D hub outside the US, currently employs over 20,000 professionals in India, with more than half based in Hyderabad. During the inauguration, Microsoft unveiled key AI initiatives in collaboration with the Telangana government under the ADVANTA(I)GE TELANGANA program.

A dedicated AI Foundations Academy will be introduced in 500 government schools, benefiting 50,000 students, fostering AI education at the grassroots level. Additionally, a Centre of Excellence for AI (AICoE) will be established to develop cloud-based AI infrastructure and a centralized AI Knowledge Hub.

Microsoft also announced a Rs 15,000 crore investment to expand its hyperscale AI data centres in Telangana, reinforcing its commitment to India’s digital and AI-driven future.
