Bombay HC Orders Civic Bodies to Integrate Websites with Maharashtra RERA

Date:

In a significant move to enhance transparency and streamline real estate regulations, the Bombay High Court has directed all civic bodies across Maharashtra to link their official websites with the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) portal. This directive aims to ensure better compliance with real estate norms and facilitate easier access to project details for homebuyers and stakeholders.

The court’s order comes in response to concerns over the lack of coordination between local governing bodies and MahaRERA. Many homebuyers have faced difficulties in verifying project approvals, leading to delays and legal disputes. By integrating civic websites with MahaRERA, authorities hope to create a seamless information-sharing mechanism, offering real-time updates on project approvals, status, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Civic bodies have been instructed to complete this integration at the earliest, ensuring comprehensive data linkage, including construction permits, occupancy certificates, and other crucial details. The move is expected to empower citizens, promote accountability among builders, and deter illegal constructions.

This directive marks a significant step toward bridging gaps in governance and making Maharashtra’s real estate sector more transparent and buyer-friendly. The state now awaits swift implementation by its municipal corporations.
