Construction industry professionals recently discussed the growing role of artificial intelligence in improving jobsite efficiency and workforce safety during a Built by Builders webinar. The session focused on how AI solutions designed specifically for construction teams can address long-standing operational challenges rather than adding unnecessary complexity.
Speakers emphasized that one of AI’s strongest advantages lies in real-time visibility. By capturing and analysing on-site data related to labour, equipment, and materials, contractors can better monitor productivity, anticipate cost overruns, and identify delays before they escalate. Panelists noted that tools which blend naturally into existing workflows — including those accessible to multilingual crews — are more likely to gain acceptance across project teams.
Safety was another major theme of the discussion. With ongoing labour shortages bringing more inexperienced workers onto sites, traditional checklist-driven safety programmes often prove insufficient. AI-enabled platforms, the panel suggested, can support more practical, situational training and help supervisors identify risk patterns early, shifting the focus from paperwork to prevention.
The speakers also cautioned against adopting technology for its own sake. With a crowded market of digital solutions, construction firms were encouraged to prioritise platforms that solve clear problems and deliver actionable insights. Ultimately, AI tools that help teams detect issues sooner and make faster, better-informed decisions are expected to create the most value for the industry.
