Major Milestone for Kanpur Metro: New Contract Secured

In October 2024, significant progress was made in Kanpur’s construction landscape with the awarding of a ₹762.50 crore contract to Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (KPIL) and Gulermak for the underground section of the Kanpur Metro Line-2. This project is pivotal for enhancing urban transit, connecting the Agriculture Depot to the Double Pullia Ramp over a 4.08 km stretch featuring three underground stations at Rawatpur, Kakadeo, and Double Pullia​​

This contract marks the third underground package in the ambitious Kanpur Metro Phase 1 project, which spans a total of 32.38 km. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) anticipates a completion deadline of 30 months, following the start of construction activities, including the development of a diaphragm wall for the Rawatpur station.
