Saint-Gobain and CEPT University have announced a strategic partnership to establish a Climate-Resilient Tech Commons Centre, reinforcing their shared commitment to advancing sustainable construction practices in India. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by promoting research, innovation and skill development in the built environment.
The proposed centre will serve as a dedicated platform for developing climate-resilient building solutions while encouraging interdisciplinary research in architecture, engineering, urban planning and construction technologies. It will house four specialized hubs focused on Building Science and Climate Resilience, Urban Intelligence and Digital Twins, Computational Design and Visualisation and Communications and Media.
According to Saint-Gobain, the partnership is designed to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient, low-carbon and sustainable building materials. The initiative will also support hands-on learning, prototyping, industry-led knowledge exchange and practical problem-solving, enabling students, researchers and professionals to collaborate on real-world challenges facing India’s construction sector.
As India experiences rapid urbanisation and infrastructure growth, collaborations like this are expected to play a crucial role in developing “Made-in-India” solutions that reduce energy consumption, improve building performance and enhance occupant well-being. By combining Saint-Gobain’s expertise in sustainable construction with CEPT University’s academic excellence, the initiative aims to create a future-ready ecosystem that supports innovation, climate resilience and the country’s long-term sustainability goals.
