NHAI and Developers to Share Project Updates via YouTube

Date:

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and several highway developers are set to begin sharing regular video updates of their project progress through dedicated YouTube channels. This move comes under the directive of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to bring greater transparency and public engagement in highway construction.

Road Transport Secretary V. Umashankar highlighted that citizens and YouTube creators have already been uploading independent videos showing real-time construction updates. Taking note of this trend, the ministry decided to make video sharing an official part of project monitoring, requiring developers to upload progress visuals regularly.

Developers who already use drone footage for internal monitoring will now share this content publicly on YouTube, allowing citizens to view real-time highway progress, check completion milestones and give feedback. Additionally, the government is introducing QR-coded hoardings along project sites. By scanning these codes, people will be able to access key project details, including contractor names, responsible officers and timelines.

These initiatives aim to build trust and accountability between the government, contractors and citizens. The ministry believes that open access to project visuals and real-time updates will reduce misinformation, improve quality control and ensure timely completion of national highway projects. This step marks a significant move toward digital transparency in India’s infrastructure development.
