New Record in Freight Handling

Date:

In a proud moment for Indian Railways, the Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway has achieved a new milestone by handling the highest freight in October 2023. The division loaded 101 million tonnes and unloaded 82 million tonnes, a combined total of 183 million tonnes, setting a new record for efficiency and consistency.

What makes this achievement truly inspiring is that it came during a month marked by heavy rains and the impact of Cyclone Montha. Despite these challenges, the division not only maintained operations but also recorded its best-ever monthly loading of 14.52 million tonnes in October.

This success is the result of strong teamwork, strategic planning and effective coordination. The division has focused on quick wagon turnaround, improved infrastructure and customer-friendly services, all of which have made freight handling faster and more reliable. It also reflects the growing role of Indian Railways in powering the nation’s logistics and industrial growth.

Freight transport remains the lifeline of India’s economy, connecting industries and consumers across regions. The Khurda Road Division’s performance sets a fine example of how commitment and innovation can overcome challenges and deliver excellence.

As India continues to strengthen its logistics network, such success stories highlight how local efforts contribute to national progress. The Khurda Road Division has not only moved goods; it has moved the country one step closer to its vision of modern, efficient and sustainable rail transport.
