Chintan Shivir 2026: Centre, States to Discuss Safer and Better Highways

Date:

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will organise the Chintan Shivir 2026 in Gujarat on October 5 and 6, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the future of highway infrastructure in India.

The two-day conclave will see participation from senior representatives of the Centre, state governments, implementing agencies and other stakeholders from the highway sector. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, along with Ministers of State Ajay Tamta and Harsh Malhotra, will address the inaugural session.

The Chintan Shivir aims to strengthen Centre-State coordination and encourage the exchange of field-level experiences, best practices and practical solutions. Discussions will focus on improving project delivery, infrastructure quality, road safety and operational efficiency.

Five key thematic sessions will cover PM GatiShakti and integrated infrastructure planning, land acquisition and Bhoomi Rashi, Model Concession Agreements and ratings, designing safe highways, and quality assurance and project monitoring.

The Ministry has positioned the event as an outcome-oriented platform aimed at developing actionable solutions to implementation challenges. The deliberations are expected to support stronger collaboration between governments and agencies while advancing safer, higher-quality and future-ready highway infrastructure across the country.
