11 Years, 1 Vision: Modi Touts Infra Drive as Key to Self-Reliant India

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked what he called “11 Years of Infrastructure Revolution,” claiming the past decade of building highways, airports and modern rail has laid the bedrock for a self-reliant India. According to sources,  Modi said the expanding transport network has “boosted ease of living and prosperity” while embedding sustainability into every project.

According to the Prime Minister, the period has seen expressways connect remote regions, ropeways open hill economies, and India’s maritime potential “unlocked” through port-led development. He pointed to affordable regional air travel under UDAN and a “railway revolution” featuring Vande Bharat trains, Amrit Bharat Express services and the redevelopment of Amrit Bharat stations.

A government infographic shared online added that “smart cities, safer roads and smoother commutes” are now part of everyday life, describing the programme as a junction where “steel and spirit merge.” The Bharatiya Janata Party says these achievements underscore its vision of “Viksit Bharat @ 2047,” as the NDA government completes 11 years at the Centre this month. Modi first took office on 26 May 2014 and characterises the intervening years as a transformative decade accelerating India’s journey toward economic self-reliance.
