NHAI has finalised a detailed project report (DPR) for a ₹980 crore upgrade of MG Road between the Haryana border and Delhi’s Andheria Morh. The proposed project aims to improve traffic movement along one of the key road links between Delhi and Gurugram.
The Delhi section spans around 8.5 km, of which approximately 4.5 km is proposed to be elevated, while the remaining portion will continue at ground level. The project has received internal approval and will now be submitted to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for final approval. Tenders are expected to be invited after the necessary clearance.
NHAI is also examining improvements to the Gurugram section, which runs for about 5 km from IFFCO Chowk to the Haryana border. A consultant has been appointed to study options including road widening and elevated structures, although limited space and existing metro stations present challenges.
The authority is additionally exploring a direct connection between MG Road and the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, which could provide smoother access for traffic heading towards Manesar and Jaipur. A traffic survey will also help assess congestion and future infrastructure requirements.
