DVC CIL Power, a 50:50 joint venture between Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and Coal India, has signed a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) with L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions for the main plant package of its upcoming 2×800 MW Chandrapura Thermal Power Station in Jharkhand.
The project will comprise two ultra-supercritical units with a combined generation capacity of 1,600 MW. The adoption of advanced ultra-supercritical technology is expected to enhance thermal efficiency while helping reduce specific emissions compared with conventional thermal power generation technologies.
Under the agreement, L&T Energy CarbonLite Solutions will undertake a comprehensive scope covering the supply, erection, testing and commissioning of key plant equipment. This includes critical systems such as boilers and steam turbines required for the proposed generating units.
The signing of the LNTP marks a significant step toward the execution of the Chandrapura thermal power project. Further project activities will progress after the fulfilment of specified conditions.
These include obtaining the required environmental clearances and completion of the applicable notice period. Once these requirements are met, the project is expected to advance into subsequent stages of execution.
The development is aimed at adding substantial generation capacity while supporting the region’s evolving power infrastructure requirements.
