The Maharashtra government has approved the appointment of a developer for the cluster redevelopment of Ramkrishna Nagar in Khar West.The decision was taken during a State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The project aims to redevelop the aging housing colony, which was originally constructed by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in 1985.The colony currently comprises residential buildings and one office building. Over the years, several structures have become dilapidated and have been declared structurally unsafe, raising serious safety concerns for residents.
Under the approved cluster redevelopment plan, the old and unsafe buildings will be replaced with modern, spacious homes and upgraded infrastructure with improved amenities. Eligible residents will be provided with proper rehabilitation tenements as part of the project, ensuring their seamless resettlement.To ensure speedy and efficient execution, the state government has also authorized the formation of a high-powered committee headed by the Secretary of the Housing Department.
The committee will oversee the project implementation, expedite approvals, and resolve any bottlenecks.The redevelopment is expected to significantly improve living conditions and transform the four-decade-old colony into a modern housing complex.
