Luminous Power Technologies is set to invest around ₹2,000 crore over the next five years to expand its solar manufacturing and energy storage businesses.
According to Managing Director and CEO Vivek Abrol, the company’s growth strategy will focus on strengthening its inverter and battery segments, expanding its solar operations and developing proprietary technologies.
As part of this expansion, Luminous is establishing a 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Gopalpur, Odisha. The facility is expected to supply solar cells to the company’s photovoltaic module manufacturing plant in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand.
The company is also planning to establish an advanced energy storage manufacturing facility in Odisha, further strengthening its presence in the growing clean-energy sector.
Meanwhile, Luminous’ 500 MWh lithium-ion battery manufacturing facility in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, has been operational since January. The facility manufactures stationary Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) modules as well as standalone battery packs.
With these investments, Luminous aims to build a stronger manufacturing ecosystem across solar, batteries and energy storage while expanding its capabilities in India’s rapidly growing renewable energy market.
