Waaree Transpower, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies, is planning to strengthen its power equipment manufacturing capacity with an investment of around ₹192 crore. The company intends to establish a new 500 MVA, 400 kV power transformer manufacturing facility to cater to India’s growing requirements for transmission infrastructure and renewable energy integration.
The proposed facility will produce transformers across 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV voltage classes, enabling the company to serve a broader range of power transmission applications. The expansion is expected to enhance Waaree Transpower’s capabilities and strengthen its presence across India’s evolving power infrastructure value chain.
The upcoming manufacturing unit will complement the company’s existing production facilities while allowing it to diversify beyond its traditional focus on renewable energy-related applications. With the expansion, Waaree Transpower aims to address wider requirements emerging from India’s rapidly developing electricity transmission network.
The investment comes at a time when India is accelerating spending on transmission infrastructure to support rising electricity consumption and the integration of increasing renewable energy capacity. The new facility is expected to position Waaree Transpower to benefit from the growing demand for high-voltage transformers required for modernising and expanding the country’s power grid.
