India is making significant progress on the NH-163G Greenfield Highway, an ambitious infrastructure project that is expected to dramatically improve connectivity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Once completed, the four-lane access-controlled highway will reduce travel time between Khammam and Vijayawada to approximately 75 minutes, providing a faster and more efficient route for both commuters and freight transport.
The new highway will span nearly 89.5 kilometers (55.6 miles), connecting V. Venkatayapalem near Khammam to Jakkampudi on NH-16 near Vijayawada. Designed as a greenfield corridor, the project aims to ease congestion on existing roads while improving road safety and travel efficiency.
Apart from reducing travel time, the NH-163G corridor is expected to strengthen trade and logistics by offering smoother connectivity between key commercial centers in the two states. Faster movement of goods is likely to benefit businesses, industries and agricultural producers while supporting regional economic growth.
The highway also forms part of India’s broader strategy to expand its network of modern highways and greenfield expressways. The government continues to invest heavily in high-speed road infrastructure to enhance connectivity, reduce logistics costs and improve transportation efficiency across the country.
Once operational, the NH-163G Greenfield Highway is expected to become a vital transport corridor, delivering faster journeys, improved freight movement and long-term economic benefits for southern India.
