The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has announced that the much-awaited link road connecting the Bawa White House area in Phase 11 to Airport Road is expected to become fully operational by June 15. The project is set to significantly improve connectivity and provide smoother travel for commuters heading to Chandigarh International Airport.
According to GMADA Superintending Engineer Ajay Garg, the remaining work, including a portion of the bridge construction and final road surfacing, is progressing as planned and is likely to be completed within the scheduled timeline. Once finished, the road corridor will be opened for two-way traffic movement, enhancing accessibility and reducing travel delays.
At present, motorists are using temporary routes near the construction zone, while some stretches remain partially completed. Despite recent rainfall causing challenges in construction activities and material transportation, work on the bridge deck and approach roads continues at a steady pace.
The new corridor is expected to ease congestion on Airport Road, especially around busy intersections and commercial areas. By creating a direct connection between Balongi and Airport Road, the project will shorten travel times, improve road network efficiency, and offer an alternative route for airport-bound traffic. The development is expected to benefit residents, businesses, and daily commuters across the region.
