Maha Metro has submitted a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed elevated metro line from Bhakti Shakti Chowk to Chakan to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for review. The updated plan extends the corridor length to 47.2 km, up from the earlier 42.2 km, and increases the number of stations from 31 to 34.
The addition of three new stations and alignment changes in key areas such as Bhosari MIDC, Landewadi, and Bhosarigaon aim to improve connectivity across major industrial and residential zones. These enhancements are expected to make daily commuting more efficient for thousands of workers and residents in the region.
Due to the expanded scope, the estimated project cost has risen to ₹12,937 crore from the earlier ₹10,383 crore. A major highlight of the revised proposal is a 17-km double-decker flyover between Bhosari and Chakan, planned in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The project will also involve demolition and reconstruction of the existing Bhosari flyover.
Once approved by PCMC, the DPR will be sent to the state government for final clearance, paving the way for improved urban mobility in Pune’s growing industrial belt.
