Hitachi Construction Machinery has announced a strategic investment of $3 million in Rithmik Solutions, a Montreal-based artificial intelligence firm. This move is designed to accelerate the development of advanced data analytics for mining equipment and bolster Hitachi’s digital solutions portfolio for global mining operations.
The investment underscores Hitachi’s commitment to transforming complex machine data into actionable insights. By integrating Rithmik’s AI-driven analytics, Hitachi aims to significantly enhance its LANDCROS Connect Insight platform. The upgraded system will offer real-time monitoring capable of identifying early indicators of equipment issues, thereby allowing for proactive maintenance that reduces unplanned downtime and lowers the total cost of ownership.
This partnership aligns seamlessly with Hitachi’s upcoming rebranding to LANDCROS in April 2027, signaling a broader focus on comprehensive solutions beyond traditional machinery. The decision follows a successful year-long demonstration at a mine site, where Rithmik’s technology was tested on 40 dump trucks and six ultra-large hydraulic excavators. The pilot program confirmed the AI’s ability to accurately detect anomalies early, proving its potential to increase productivity and equipment availability.
By leveraging Rithmik’s expertise, Hitachi strengthens its open-collaboration strategy, positioning itself to better meet the evolving, tech-driven needs of the mining industry.
