The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has marked a major milestone in the ambitious Delhi–Mumbai Expressway Project by launching Package 7 of the Vadodara–Virar section. This strategic development effectively connects Vadodara to Navsari, significantly advancing the completion of the massive 1,386 km infrastructure initiative.
With trial operations now active on the new Ena to Kharel section and the integration of Package 5 from Ankleshwar to Kim, motorists have gained direct connectivity from Vadodara to Kharel. This seamless link streamlines travel across the 426 km Gujarat stretch of the expressway. Highlighting the impact, an NHAI official noted that the route will drastically improve connectivity between major industrial hubs like Ahmedabad and Surat, boosting logistics and economic activity in the region.
Although the roadway is structurally complete, full commercial operations face minor delays due to pending safety works. Additionally, a high-tension power tower obstructing a portion of Package 5 currently requires traffic diversions. However, authorities are working to resolve these hurdles swiftly. Uninterrupted operations for this phase of the project are expected to commence within the next few weeks, delivering a robust transportation backbone for Gujarat.
