Civ Robotics Unveils AI-Powered Navigation System to Automate Solar Construction

Date:

Construction-robotics firm Civ Robotics has launched a new navigation system, CivNav, aimed at streamlining and accelerating solar-farm construction by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with existing machinery. The system equips skid-steers and telehandlers — including models from major manufacturers such as Bobcat, Caterpillar, and John Deere — with a simple sensor box and a tablet interface, enabling operators to place piles, pallets, and photovoltaic (PV) modules with high precision.

Thanks to CivNav, projects that previously required extensive manual surveying and layout work can skip those steps entirely: the system delivers placement accuracy within two inches, and can guide machines in real time to their designated positions. For teams using GPS-equipped pile drivers, CivNav effectively removes the need for traditional site staking.

In addition to placement guidance, CivNav offers embedded analytics: daily operational reports track productivity metrics like output, hours, distance traveled, and efficiency bottlenecks. This data helps project managers monitor performance and optimize workflows throughout solar-farm construction.

The introduction of CivNav comes at a critical time for the solar industry, which continues to face labor shortages even as demand for renewable-energy infrastructure opens up rapidly. With CivNav now available for rent in its beta version, Civ Robotics aims to offer a scalable, autonomous-capable solution that brings substantial time and cost savings to solar projects worldwide.
