Techno Electric Commits $1B to India’s Digital Infrastructure Expansion

Date:

Techno Electric & Engineering Company Ltd (TEECL) has launched Techno Digital Infra Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary, committing $1 billion to develop a nationwide network of data centers in India. This initiative aims to establish 250 MW of combined capacity through hyperscale and edge data centers, aligning with the Digital India mission.

The first project is a 36 MW hyperscale data center in Chennai’s SIPCOT IT Park, spanning 200,000 sq ft and accommodating up to 2,400 racks. Designed with sustainability in mind, it features Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), adiabatic cooling, a 25% green cover, and a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.35.

Future hyperscale facilities are planned for Kolkata and Noida. Additionally, TEECL has partnered with RailTel Corporation to develop 102 edge data centers across 23 states, bringing low-latency computing closer to users in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

This strategic expansion is set to bolster India’s digital infrastructure, catering to sectors like AI, fintech, OTT and e-governance.
