Shankara Building Products Unveils Ambitious Retail Expansion Strategy

Date:

Shankara Building Products Ltd., one of India’s leading organised home-improvement and construction-material retailers, has announced a bold expansion strategy aimed at strengthening its national footprint and tapping into the rising demand for branded building-material solutions.

The company revealed plans to significantly scale its retail network over the next two years, focusing on Tier-1 and high-growth Tier-2 markets. The expansion will include new large-format stores, deeper penetration into underserved regions, and a sharper omni-channel presence to meet shifting customer preferences.

According to senior leadership, Shankara’s expansion strategy is built on three pillars:

  1. Retail footprint growth – Opening new outlets in fast-urbanising regions with high homebuilding and renovation activity.

  2. Category expansion – Strengthening product offerings across steel, cement, tiles, plumbing, roofing, and home-improvement segments.

  3. Digital and omni-channel integration – Enhancing online ordering, supply-chain visibility, and last-mile delivery to offer customers a seamless shopping experience.

The company also plans to upgrade several existing stores to a more modern, customer-centric format, featuring curated product zones, professional assistance desks, and installation support services. Management believes these improvements will help Shankara compete effectively with both unorganised players and emerging retail chains.

Industry analysts say the building-materials retail sector is entering a high-growth phase, driven by rising urbanisation, home renovation cycles, and customers increasingly favouring branded, quality-assured products. Shankara’s aggressive expansion comes at a time when organised players are expected to capture a larger share of the construction-materials market.

With its strong supply-chain capabilities and trusted brand recall, Shankara Building Products is positioning itself to become one of India’s most dominant home-building retail platforms. The company expects the new strategy to accelerate revenue growth and solidify its leadership in the country’s rapidly evolving construction-retail landscape.
