Expert Opinion: HKSTP EPIC 2025 – Global Startups from Singapore and Canada Eye Investments in India

At the HKSTP EPIC 2025 global pitch competition, several startups from Singapore, Canada, and beyond expressed strong interest in expanding into India’s fast-growing market. Citing India’s massive consumer base, robust economic growth, and supportive startup ecosystem, founders said the country offers unparalleled opportunities for innovation and investment.

From over 1,200 applications across 70 economies, 100 Indian startups were shortlisted under Digital HealthTech, FinTech, and GreenTech categories to connect with global investors and corporate partners. Sunny Chai, Chairman of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP), said EPIC 2025 showcases Hong Kong’s global connectivity, helping ideas cross borders and reach new markets.

Bryan Oh, Founder & CEO of Singapore-based NEU Battery Materials, said India’s large two- and three-wheeler market makes it an attractive destination for battery recycling expansion. Similarly, Jayden Loo, Engineer at Singapore’s Bailey, highlighted India’s rapid economic rise and vast customer base as ideal for building long-term ventures.

Amol S. Karnick, President & CEO of KA Imaging (Canada), which develops color X-ray imaging for early diagnosis of heart and lung diseases, said the company is exploring entry into India and sees government funding in science and medical tech as a promising opportunity for collaboration.
