Essar Group participated in the conference titled “Energy Security: Driving India’s Next Wave of Gas Demand,” organised by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB). Senior representatives B C Tripathi and Maqsood Shaikh contributed to discussions on India’s evolving energy landscape and future demand for natural gas.
The conference brought together industry leaders to address challenges around energy security amid global geopolitical uncertainties and sustainability pressures. Key sessions focused on aligning decarbonisation goals with practical strategies and strengthening resilient energy supply chains across the country.
Speaking at the event, B C Tripathi emphasised the importance of a long-term and pragmatic approach to energy security. He noted that India will continue to depend on energy imports in the near future but should work towards reducing reliance on specific regions. He also highlighted the need for strong policy alignment, infrastructure development, and investments in emerging sectors like green hydrogen.
Maqsood Shaikh stressed the role of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a transition fuel for reducing emissions in sectors such as steel, cement, and infrastructure. He further explained Essar’s integrated approach, which includes LNG-powered logistics and city gas distribution, aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and supporting sustainable industrial growth.
