Building Materials Demand Set to Rise Across India Through 2034

Date:

India’s building materials market is expected to see sustained growth through 2034, supported by rapid urbanisation, infrastructure development and rising construction activity across the country. The market is projected to grow from around USD 46.3 billion in 2026 to USD 64.5 billion by 2034, registering a CAGR of about 4.24%.

Government spending on infrastructure and continued development of residential and commercial projects are expected to remain key drivers of demand. As more cities expand and new infrastructure projects come up, demand for materials such as cement, steel, aggregates, bricks and other construction products is likely to remain strong.

Residential construction is an important part of the market, while infrastructure development is creating additional opportunities for manufacturers and suppliers. The growing focus on green buildings and energy-efficient construction is also changing the type of materials being used. Sustainable products, advanced construction technologies and prefabricated solutions are expected to gain greater importance over the coming years.

Technology is also expected to play a bigger role in the building materials supply chain. Digital procurement platforms, organised distribution networks and direct manufacturer-to-customer models could improve price transparency, logistics and product availability.

With urbanisation, housing demand and infrastructure investment continuing, India’s building materials sector is expected to remain an important part of the country’s long-term construction growth story.
