Amazon Australia has broken ground on Queensland’s first robotics fulfilment centre in North Maclean, Logan, with an investment exceeding $750 million. Targeted for completion in 2028, the facility will create over 1,000 operational jobs, with construction and fit-out generating an additional 2,000 roles.
Spanning 150,000 sqm across four levels — nearly double the size of Suncorp Stadium — the centre will have capacity to house up to 15 million smaller items including pantry staples, electronics, and toys. At full capacity, it will process over 125 million packages per year, including items from Queensland-based small and medium businesses.
Strategically located at Charter Hall’s Flagstone Logistics Estate, the site has direct access to the Mount Lindesay Highway, enabling efficient delivery across South Brisbane.
Each robot in the facility can lift 500kg, communicate with employees through wearable Wi-Fi transmitters, and make smart decisions using centralised planning software. Roles will range from entry-level warehouse positions to specialised IT, HR, and robotics engineering jobs.
The new facility will be Amazon’s second fulfilment centre in Queensland, supporting its existing centre in Lytton alongside logistics sites in Heathwood and Arundel.
