Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao inspected ongoing infrastructure works on Dr Rajkumar Road on Wednesday and directed engineers to complete pending tasks within 15 days, followed immediately by scheduled white-topping. The review covered carriageway restoration, utility coordination and a 1,000-mm storm-water pipeline being laid to ease flooding along the corridor.
During the site visit, Rao asked zonal officials to reassign or replace non-performing contractors, and to form task-force committees for on-ground supervision. He stressed daily progress tracking, stricter barricading and dust-mitigation measures to reduce disruption for commuters and shop owners.
The inspection is part of the GBA’s citywide push to speed up road and drain upgrades and tighten accountability across agencies handling utilities. Officials were asked to maintain photo and video evidence of each stage of work, including trench refilling and final black-top or white-top, for quality audits. Any slippage against milestone dates will invite penalties and contractor replacement, the Commissioner cautioned.
Residents along the stretch have been promised phased traffic diversions and night-time work where feasible. With the pre-winter repair window narrowing, the GBA has prioritised pothole removal, junction improvement and drain desilting on major corridors to improve safety and reduce waterlogging before sustained seasonal rains.
