MCGM Issues ₹805 Crore Tender for JJ Road Flyover Construction Project to Ease Traffic Congestion

Date:

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) has invited bids for a major construction project: a new flyover at the junction of JJ Road and Sabu Siddik Polytechnic Road, aimed at easing chronic traffic congestion in the area.

The proposed flyover will replace the existing Y-bridge and directly connect to the JJ flyover, creating a smoother traffic corridor for daily commuters and commercial vehicles. As per the tender, the contract is valued at ₹805.15 crore, with an 18-month execution period, excluding the monsoon season.

MCGM officials said the project is expected to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and strengthen east–west movement through one of south Mumbai’s busiest stretches.

Work is planned to begin soon after the contract is awarded. Once completed, the upgraded flyover network is expected to decongest the junction, streamline vehicle flow, and improve overall road safety in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

This flyover construction forms part of the city’s wider infrastructure push to modernise ageing assets and respond to increasing transport pressure. The project is expected to become a key traffic relief point for motorists using JJ Road and adjoining arterial routes.
